I am Nathan Mace, and it is my honor to serve as Sheriff of McDowell County, North Carolina. Our office remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, upholding the constitutional rights of every individual, and treating all people with dignity, fairness and respect.

As we begin this new chapter, we will continue building upon the strong foundation established through the dedicated leadership of retired Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan. His service, vision and commitment to McDowell County strengthened this office and fostered valuable partnerships throughout our community and across local, state and federal public safety agencies.

Moving forward, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office will remain focused on professional service, public safety, accountability and strong community relationships. By working together, we can continue making a positive difference for our families, our communities and our county.
